This 12.83-acre site is located in North Philadelphia within the Pennypack Creek Watershed and is composed of entirely greened area. The property was retrofitted into two regional surface infiltration basins. Purchased by Water Logs, LLC for the purpose of this project, this single parcel is designed to manage runoff from the site itself as well as runoff from Sandmeyer Lane, fifteen participating properties, the Sandmeyer Steel Company, and regional drainage areas. Combined, 10011-45 Sandmeyer Lane treats runoff from over 1.6 million square feet of impervious area. Sixty catch basins capture stormwater runoff and direct it to either the northeast basin (B-1) or the southeast basin (B-2). Both contain an outlet control structure (OCS), a diversion structure, and a headwall that leads to a rip-rap apron and forebay. B-1 is 39,100 sf, and B-2 is 44,140 sf., with a cumulative total of 1,000 ft of perforated pipe underneath the basins installed as underdrain, providing additional storage. These large basins are carefully engineered to maximize the amount of stormwater captured and treated, contributing to the amendment of Philadelphia's stormwater management problem.
